Tomorrow are auditions for Ballet Ensemble (BE) from 10am - 1pm and we want to make sure your aware and ready to do your best. Below are some key things to remember for success.

1. Get plenty of REST! The night before turn your phone off and go to bed. The screen light of your phone while checking instagram, tik-tok or snapchat actually signals the brain that it's time to work. So no screen time of any kind 1 hour before you go to sleep.

2. Have your tights, leotard and shoes ready the night before. Make sure you wear a black leotard to BE auditions, with tights that have no holes and bring both your flat shoes and pointe shoes. Make sure your shoes are clean and your pointe shoes are not dead. Starting the year with dead pointe shoes let the faculty know you are not someone who comes prepared.

3. Wake up with enough time to have a good breakfast.

4. Your hair should be in a bun. Make the bun your statement, add braids or twists to draw the attention of the faculty panel. Show them how much you love dance through the details of your work, this is in your technique both in dance and your hair.

5. Show up on time. On time for a dancer is a min of 30min before the rehearsal or audition begins. Quietly see if the studio is open, if it is you can enter, find your barre spot or move portable barres to make your spot. Quietly warm-up for the audition with a set of headphones. You'll know you're warm when your heart rate is slightly up and you on the verge of sweating. At this point you can start stretching.

6. Stay CALM. An audition is simply a means with which to see if you have yet reached a level in your dance training (mentally and physically) to progress to another facet of the art form or if you still have some work to do throughout the season to achieve your dancing goals. Staying positive throughout the process, doing your best and staying humble always shows through to the adjudicators in the front.

7. Respect: Know your classroom rules of respect for faculty, your contemporaries, and yourself. Barre etiquette, across the floor, and end of class.

Thank it! Have fun and I look forward to seeing you tomorrow.
- Mr Cory

PARENTS: You are a big part to this audition process. If you are calm, prepared and respectful, this flows to your dancer. Stay positive and encourage them no matter the outcome.
